The Marketplace Industry Association Joins United for Privacy Coalition to Advocate for National Privacy Law
MEDIA INTERVIEWS / MENTIONS
The Marketplace Industry Association joined other leading industry organizations in advocating for a comprehensive federal privacy law in this letter. As of July 10, 2024, 19 states have enacted their own comprehensive privacy laws. The lack of a uniform national standard particularly hurts small and emerging businesses, creates confusion for consumers, and has a chilling effect on the national economy. In its current form, the recently proposed American Privacy Rights Act (APRA) fails to provide a full preemption of state law and would thus add to the existing privacy patchwork across the United States.
